As your puggle puppy grows, so should your knowledge of preventive health care measures. When it comes down to it, dogs are not really that hard to care. That does not mean that you should avoid slack off and to monitor their needs yet. Your puggle will give you joy for years to come, as long as you keep your end of the bargain and keep your puppy healthy and fit. Remember, your puppy is kind of like human babies, they can not take care of their needs all by myself
.Take your puggle for a walk once a day if possible. I remember hearing Dog Whisperer (Cesar Milan) say that you should walk your dog for 45 minutes every day. Now I know that is not always feasible, nor must it be. Puggles are a small breed of dogs and as such they do not require quite as much exercise as larger breeds of dogs, especially if your puggle like the pug than beagle. I live in North Carolina (hot summer) and our vet recommended not to try to do more with our puggles because of their compact Snouts. He is said to be more heat and can have trouble breathing, if overloaded.
Do not feed your puggle. People are usually so lazy that they do not even keep track of their dog food intake. Overfeeding your puggle can lead to health problems including heart disease. Most puggles adult does not need much more than a cup of dog food a day. Of course, this will depend on the size of your dog and the type of food you have bought, but it's usually pretty safe to follow the feeding recommendations on the back of bags of food. If your puppy starts to get too thin or too thick, increase / decrease their daily food allowance accordingly. And get your puggle some quality dog food. Not only will improve their skin and coat, but you would not want to eat that crappy food budget, would you?
Take your puggle to the vet for regular check-up. This is probably the most important preventive health measure. Make sure your puppy gets all the necessary shots and dewormers. You'll also want to give your puggle some type of heartworm and flea treatment, especially if they play outside a lot. If you're not comfortable doing so, your vet will also clean the dog's ears and trim nails. This will eliminate odors and save you a few things around your house from damage.
Last but not least, keep your puggle living space clean. If your dog has an accident, to clean up. Do not let your cute little puggle roll around in your own waste. You'll be doing everyone benefits.
